Alba Wagar, B.S., M.A.T., is a native Spanish teacher from Colombia with over 13 years of experience teaching in public, private, and urban schools. When traditional methods fell short, she turned to storytelling, authentic cultural content, and personalized instruction to better engage her students.
Her debut novel, El despertar de Gaby (2025), was born from the passion she shares with her sister Claudia—to raise their children with a deep understanding of their Colombian culture and values. It’s a culturally rich story that blends grammar, idiomatic expressions, and real teen issues, crafted for Spanish learners. Alba currently teaches in New Jersey and serves on the executive board of Casa Freehold, a nonprofit supporting immigrant communities.
El despertar de Gaby es una novela corta dirigida a adolescentes, docentes y padres hispanos que educan a sus hijos lejos de sus raíces, buscando mantener viva su cultura y valores. Muchos adolescentes se identificarán con Gaby por su lucha interna, sus emociones intensas y su profundo deseo de encontrarse a sí misma mientras navega entre dos mundos que viven en su corazón.
